Infant Program

Baby and Me: Age 6 months to 3 years

Goal: Beginning Swim Skills

  • Establish underwater comfort
  • Establish a relaxed back float (assisted)
  • Introduce breathing and swimming
  • Introduce roll from front to back float

Pre-Stroke School

Strokes for Tots:  Age 6 months to 5 years

Strokes for Tots: Level One

Goal:  Roll from front glide to a stable back float (assisted)

  • Establish underwater comfort
  • Assisted front float with proper head position, arms reaching to instructor/ stairs
  • Supported, relaxed back float position
  • Assisted roll from front glide to back float
  • Beginning flutter kick
  • Sit jumps

Strokes for Tots:  Level Two

Goal: Independent roll from front glide to stable back float with kicking on front

  • Independent back float
  • Independent front flutter kick and glide
  • Independent roll from front glide to stable back float
  • Independent standing jumps with roll to back float for breath

Strokes for Tots:  Level Three

Goal: Swim – Roll – Swim with kicking

  • Kicking on back
  • Independent roll from back float to front glide
  • Assisted roll from front to back and back to front with flutter kicks
  • Independent swim, roll, and swim with flutter kicks

Swim Basics: Age 6 and up 

For beginner swimmers learning swim – float – swim

Goal:  Swim, roll, and swim with efficient flutter kicks

  • Independent back float
  • Independent front float with proper head position, arms reaching to instructor/ stairs
  • Independent front float with roll to back float
  • Independent swim – roll – swim with efficient flutter kicks
  • Independent jump and swim – roll – swim across the pool

Introduction to Stroke School Drills (6 months to 2 years)    

Pre-requisite: Strokes for Tots 3

Goal: Introduction to Stroke School Drills

  • Streamline front glide
  • Windmill arm with kick on back
  • Roll from front to back with windmill arm
  • Streamline flutter kicks on back

Stroke School:  Age 3 and up

Beginner Stroke School

Pre-Requisite:  Completion of Pre-Stroke School or Swim Basics

  • Streamline front position
  • Windmill kick on back (left & right arm)
  • Roll from front to back with windmill arm
  • Streamline flutter kicks on back
  • Streamline rolls from front to back with efficient flutter kicks
  • Side windmill kick (left & right arm)
  • Body dolphin

Intermediate Stroke School

Pre-Requisite:  Beginner Stroke School

  • Freestyle Drills
    • One arm stroke (left & right)
    • Two -arm catch-up stroke
    • Windmill switch breathing on left & right
  • Backstroke Drills
    • Elementary backstroke: chicken, airplane, solider
    • One arm backstroke pulls
    • Windmill switch
    • Shoulder rolls
  • Traditional Freestyle
  • Traditional Backstroke

Advanced Stroke School

Pre-Requisite:  Intermediate Stroke School

  • Advanced Freestyle
  • Advanced Backstroke
  • Breast stroke kick
  • Butterfly kick
  • Breast stroke pulling drills
    • Open – breathe – close – kick – glide
  • Butterfly pulling drills
    • Open – breathe – close – 3 whip kicks

Pre-Comp Stroke School

Pre-Requisite:  Advanced Stroke School

  • Standard Breast stroke
  • Standard Butterfly
  • Starts
  • Medley (I.M.)
